Transparency & compliance
Girotondo Horizons has received co-funding from two European programmes. Full details are set out below in accordance with EU Regulation No. 241/2021, Art. 34 and Italian PNRR transparency requirements.
The energy efficiency works at Girotondo Horizons were made possible thanks to European rural development funding managed at regional level as a support measure of the Rural Development Programme (RDP 2014–2020) through the call issued by GAL Antico Frignano e Appennino Reggiano.
The specific measure under which funding was awarded is: Measure 19 — Support for Local Development LEADER, 19.2.02 — Specific actions to contribute locally to achieving the thematic area objectives of the strategy, Sub-action B.1.1.1 Qualification and functional and organisational diversification of tourist accommodation businesses, Edition 2023.
The funding enabled the installation of an exposed cork external insulation system and the replacement of the window frames with new solid wood triple-glazed units — two central components of the building's improvement from energy class G to energy class B.
These works form part of Girotondo Horizons' ongoing commitment to regenerative and zero-carbon operations, and contribute to the broader sustainable development objectives of the Appennino Reggiano territory as supported by the Rural Development Programme.

The Ventasso FabLab project was funded through the national PNRR Bando Borghi — a public call for the cultural and social regeneration of small historic villages under Missione 1 "Digitalizzazione, innovazione, competitività e cultura", Componente 3 "Turismo e Cultura 4.0" (M1C3). The project is financed by the European Union through NextGenerationEU and managed by the Ministero della Cultura.
The project involved the creation of a workshop for the design and fabrication of furniture, sculptural structures and design objects using recycled materials, with the aim of enhancing the local area by providing new skills for school and professional training. Specific investments included:
These investments form the operational foundation of the Girotondo Horizons FabLab — the making and fabrication studio at the heart of our residency, workshop and retreat programmes.
